Snoop Dogg Files Trademark To Bring Virtual Cannabis To The Metaverse

Published

on

Another day, another way that Snoop Dogg is dominating in the metaverse.

According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, it appears that the serial entrepreneur has filed a trademark for his virtual cannabis venture.

Uncle Snoop’s

Snoop Dogg made a filing claim on June 14 for “UNCLE SNOOP’s,” per Gerben. The brand will include “downloadable virtual goods, namely virtual cannabis, virtual smoking paraphernalia, and virtual clothing. Additionally, the brand is set to have a range of image, audio, and video NFTs plus pre-rolled hemp cigarettes.

Digital Weed Farms

Before his trademark filing, Snoop Dogg announced that he was teaming up with MOBLAND to bring digital weed farms to the metaverse, as previously reported by AfroTech.

“NFT 1.0 is about individual character and item, NFT 2.0 is about land and real estate, NFT 3.0 is about business and utility on top of the land and real estate,” said Roy Liu, Co-founder of MOBLAND, according to a press release. “We are super pumped to pioneer with the legendary Snoop Dogg by bringing digital cannabis and mass adoption to the metaverse and GameFi 2.0. We are looking for more ways to give back to the cannabis community.”

In conjunction with the announcement, it was revealed that Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell Broadus — who goes by Champ Medici — joined forces on a collaboration for digital weed NFTs.

“I saw my father play video games my whole life. Cannabis and game controllers live hand in hand with him, that’s why I think it’s no brainer to bring the metaverse and digital weed together,“ said ChampMedici in a statement.

“If it’s flipping hamburgers at McDonald’s, be the best hamburger flipper in the world. Whatever it is you do you have to master your craft. I have been mastering my craft for decades. My son showed me the importance of collaboration with MOBLAND to introduce the first-ever digital weed farms as NFTs. There is a paradigm shift happening here and I want to be at the forefront of this,” Snoop Dogg said in a press release.

Infinite Reality, the Metaverse entertainment and innovation company, and FuelsEurope, the fuel manufacturers association, announce the successful preview of the companies’ first Metaverse experience. Presented initially at the recent Grand Prix de Pau 2022, the revolutionary digital world highlighted innovative low-carbon liquid fuels for the over 100,000 attendees, race spectators, and dignitaries as part of FuelsEurope’s Clean Fuels for All initiative. This initial experience connects with a broader Metaverse project which is focused on sustainability in the EU, and designed and developed by the Los Angeles-based Infinite Reality.

Hoping to promote the role of low-carbon liquid fuels and raise the awareness of these sustainable fuels with users and citizens, FuelsEurope selected the Grand Prix de Pau as the perfect platform to showcase their campaign. “Informing users and citizens about the availability, sustainability, and ease of use of low-carbon liquid fuels is now a priority for FuelsEurope,” said Alain Mathuren, Communication Director FuelsEurope. “We were looking for a channel that would allow us to simplify the information, but also visualize it and walk our stakeholders inside the technologies to bring them as close as possible to the fuels. Given its outstanding potential, Metaverse became the obvious solution. The technical potential of Metaverse will enable users and citizens to be better informed on the future of mobility, on their future mobility options, and assess the sustainability of each technology from the feedstock to the final use. At FuelsEurope we believe that informing our customers and users is critical to allow them to embark on the low-carbon journey critically needed to address the climate challenge.”

Through this critical partnership, Infinite Reality is able to affirm the company’s commitment to sustainable development and global responsibility. The historic racing event not only featured car races powered by low-carbon technologies and low-carbon liquid fuels, it, most importantly, raised awareness about the transition to clean sources of energy and the innovative technologies available for individual mobility. Infinite Reality was delighted to partner with FuelsEurope to transport viewers into the sustainable future via an immersive and deeply engaging Metaverse experience.

“Infinite Reality looks forward to deepening our engagement with FuelsEurope, expanding our footprint in Europe, and exploring opportunities to support sustainable businesses, government initiatives, and educational events with innovative and truly immersive Metaverse experiences,” said Infinite Reality CEO John Acunto.

Where Does Education Fit in an Emerging Metaverse?

Published

on

Meta—the company formerly known as Facebook—is running a new TV ad showing a future in which college students slip on a lightweight VR headset to enter a lecture hall where a professor can toss 3D models of biological cells to students who can pull them apart to demonstrate some concept.

It’s the latest sign that Big Tech sees education as a key piece of the rush to build a metaverse, the immersive Internet of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality that so far is a disconnected mix of clunky tech gear and beta software platforms inspired by science fiction.

This technology raises lots of exciting possibilities and some tough challenges, for both K12 classrooms and college classrooms of the future. And to help us sort through this emerging space, we invited two guests to the podcast who have seen more of this VR space than most and are thinking through these issues.

Those guests are Greg Heiberger, associate dean of academics and student success at South Dakota State University and Kathy Hirsh-Pasek, a professor of psychology at Temple University and a co-author of a recent Brookings Institution policy brief about education in the metaverse with advice for Facebook and other tech giants on how to build a metaverse that is education friendly.

The session was recorded in front of a live audience at the ISTE Live edtech conference in New Orleans this week.
